Weizitong Kong, a distinguished artist from the Hudson Valley, emerges as a unique voice in furniture and tableware design. His work intricately blends traditional techniques with modern influences. The art produced by KWZT Studio often explores themes of nature, identity, and the connection between self and surroundings, inviting viewers to experience a profound sense of place. Through his innovative use of materials and vibrant colors, he captures the essence of the Hudson Valley landscape while infusing it with deep personal narratives. We are so excited to showcase his work at The Beck this season.
I just love the nighttime glow of The Beck’s gallery lights! The fine detailing in Weizitong’s furnishings and lacquer-ware really shine in this setting.
These miniature vessels are uniquely perfect for serving, or simply as decorative accents. Each cup showcases intricate grains and natural finishes, making them not just functional but also a work of art. Weizitong manages to make works that are dually simplistic and historically inspired.
Moody and modern. This trio is made from cherry wood and coated with multiple layers of clay and hand-brushed natural lacquer. It is then polished to an elegant satin finish.
Weizitong’s stools include unique inlays, hand carved accents, and so much character.
This bench was inspired by an evening walk and includes pebble inlays and birch wood collected on the walking trail. This piece could not embody the term “local” any more deeply.
Possibly the most unique and artistic piece of lighting I have ever seen, and I have seen a LOT of lighting. This work glows and is so distinctive in its shape and function.
