Kingston Design Showhouse 2020
kingston design showhouse 2020
We enjoyed participating in the Kingston Design Showhouse so much last year that we participated again in 2020! This year’s showhouse is a lovely circa 1800 Italianate Style home in the Ponckhockie neighborhood of Kingston, NY. The home owners are a lovely family of three who just purchased the home last Summer. We were lucky to get introduced to them by local real estate agent Megan J Collum from Country House Realty.
When visiting the house and meeting the owners we got a sense that they loved the property just as much as the house. We decided to bring the outdoors in with graphic elements inspired by the bucolic mountains and Hudson River views.
Like we always say, it's about how you feel the moment you walk in the door, so our room this year includes the entry, vestibule, first-floor hall, and staircase.
Walking into the space you feel enveloped by mountains. The stair runners and rug, was inspired by river. You get a sense that you are walking on water coming up and down the steps. The chandelier glows when lit because of the gold leaf interior of the shade and the blue ombre exterior reminds me of the sky.
Then we curated the space with custom wall finishes, accessories, and furniture from local and regional designers and makers.

MAKERS
Just like 2019, we are highlighting local makers plus sponsors and local contractors.
Dean Babin: We met Dean through the showhouse and fell in love with his work! His entry table is just what consumers need in their home. It’s small footprint does not compromise function! You have tons of storage and a surface to place your mail and keys.
Debra Folz: Debra Folz’s creations have a thoughtful sensitivity to design. I’ve been in awe of Debra’s work for years and am happy to introduce her to our community.
Emily Ritz: Also known as Lumpland, has a detailed layered approach to both her ceramics and art work. I’ve been eyeing her work since moving to the Hudson Valley and am proud to showcase her vases this year!
Liza Phillips: Liza creates unique rug and carpet solutions. Instead of typical runners, Liza designed mats that you can place on your steps, remove at will and replace when damaged. The patterns and colors are uniquely modern and bring the Hudson River literally to your footsteps!
CONTRACTORS
Our room would not have been completed without the help of our contractors who donated their time and materials to help us accomplish our design. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts and refer them often.
Signs & Wonders: They create custom signage and have been installing wallpapers in our projects both in NYC and the Hudson Valley for years. They did an exquisite job installing the custom Fromental wallpaper in our room!
Down Under Faux: Muriel from Down Under Faux creates the most beautiful plaster finishes for our projects.
MercaWood Electric: Jeremy Wood is a reputable electrician and trustworthy contractor. He miraculously installed modern fixtures in this older home.
